. >> and california oil refineries take the heat, with new research suggesting companies mission led the public about refinery shut-downs. we'll tell you about a hearing happening later. mornings on 2 starts right now. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now. this is ktvu mornings on 2. >> good morning, welcome. it is thursday, november 15th. were gas prices art fistly inflicted? a hearing could race -- were artificially inflated? >> a hearing is taking place. a stunning new report will be presented at the hearing. good morning, alex. >> reporter: that suggestingings that refineries produced gas lynn it's a team that the public was -- at a time that the public was told the contrary. and that was responsibility for the gas spikes earlier. now a state senate hearing will be looking into whether drivers were paying more for gas than they should have been. lawmakers will be presented with a new report that was prepared by oregon based mccullough research. it combed through environmental documents and found california refineries were operating during supposed outages and maintenance shut downs

california. the fbi says they conspired to kill americans overseas and in the u.s. and plan to join al qaeda and the taliban. one suspect is a 34-year-old man who served in the us air force in 2000 and 2001. authorities say he tried to arrange for two california men to meet his contacts with terror organizations. >> a man whose watch set off a bomb scare at the oakland airport won't face charges. the toggle switch, fuses and wires apparently raised some alarms. deputies arrested this man, 49- year-old jeffrey mcgann, and then evacuated the terminal. >> i'm an artist. it's an art project. i travel with numbers of them to give to friends, family, corporations, et cetera. >> the alameda county district attorney's office did not comment on why they dropped the charges. mcgann tells us this is the first time he has run into any trouble for wearing his art in an airport. >> you have to think that's going to raise eyebrows. >>> there's a water break. we launched chopper 5. various lanes blocked are blocked. it's a huge sinkhole in the ground at west 10th and cutter. this is a residential area so cr

in that libyan attack has been laid to rest in northern california. a wreath of roses and an american flag are some of the items on chris steven' grave. according to the paper stevens was buried there on friday. he was 52 years old and grew up in piedmont. >>> there is a new study on breast cancer that finds parts of the bay area have much higher rates of invasive breast cancer compared to the rest of california. those areas include the western half of contra costa county. the northern most part of alameda county, an area that runs through alameda, santa clara and san mateo reports. san mateo news reports breast cancer rates in those areas were 10% to 20% higher than the state average from the years 2000 and 2008. breast cancer rates have been a major concern in marin county. >>> well, an iraq war veteran who said he was beaten by police during an occupy protest and needed surgery for a lacerated spleen is suing the alameda county sheriff's office. he claims the alameda county sheriff's office made his injuries worse by denying him medical care after he was arrested and jailed last novembe
